Following the set up of an unauthorised art stall during the Venice Biennale 2019 art fair Banksy has confirmed he is the mastermind behind yet another sneakily conducted but poignant artwork that popped up in Venice recently. After the painting was spotted on the side of a crumbling wall above one of Venice’s famous canals, Banksy took to Instagram to confirm that the work was indeed his own.

Since the Artist’s confirmation many people have speculated that the stencil work, depicting a small girl holding a bright pink smoke signal is commenting on the current refugee crisis. Banksy isn’t one to shy away from making a statement or using his art to send a message so we’re betting the punters have probably nailed the message on this one.

The aforementioned unauthorised Banksy art “stall” stirred up a bit of chatter too, with Police eventually having to move Banksy and his works on from where he had set up. Banksy mentioned this on Instagram saying "Setting out my stall at the Venice Biennale. Despite being the largest and most prestigious art event in the world, for some reason I've never been invited." So, with that statement out in the world now, it should be interesting to see if he cops a bait to next years event.
