The finalists for the Art Gallery of New South Wales's (AGNSW) “Young Archie’s” competition are currently on display in Sydney and honestly, nothing you ever do will be this good.

With over 2100 entrants into the competition (which is the little sister of Australia’s most famous art prize, the Archibald) the 40 finalists, divided into 4 different age categories are an unbelievable showcase of what’s to come from the next generation of Australian Artists.

Unlike the Archibald, the Young Archie doesn’t necessarily see these artists immortalizing famous Australian figures, rather the tiny talents display portraits of important people in their lives: parents, siblings, teachers, friends and even themselves. These little dudes really know how to hit you in the feels with the heart and soul of their pieces coming from their unique relationships and personal connections with the people around them. It’s all love.

The exhibition is on at the AGNSW until the 8th of September and is the perfect winter’s day activity. If you can’t get there, you can sus the finalists here and below are a handful of our faves.
