READ: Sydneysiders, Here’s What To Do This Weekend If You’re Dead Broke

Words By: Lucinda Starr

We’ve all been there. It’s Friday night. You’re out with your mates at The Bucket List, about to shout a round on Happy Hour to kick off the weekend. Everyone’s ready for a big night. That is, until your card declines.

Down to your last $50 with payday far off in the horizon? Don’t. Panic. Here’s your fool-proof guide to having a killer weekend in Sydney without spending a cent.

Step One: Find Your Zen

Master your downward facing dog and get bendy with a free yoga session at the Sydney Buddhist Centre in the heart of Newtown. Newbies, never fear. This class is designed for beginners and serious yogis alike. Channel your inner tree-hugging flower child and live your best wellness warrior life.

Step Two: Get Cultured at White Rabbit Gallery

If your idea of art is dragging your heels around a hall of dusty portraits, think again. Head to Chippendale for a dose of extreme and experimental Chinese contemporary art at White Rabbit Gallery. They’ll be immerse installation rooms, graphic video content and a whole bunch of hard-to-stomach pieces that will give you plenty to talk about. Check out their latest exhibition Hot Blood from March 15 until August 2019.

Step Three: Scout Out Your Future Pup at Sydney Park

Take your dog spotting to the next level with an afternoon on the grassy hills of Sydney Park in the Inner West. Perch yourself with iPhone at the ready and let the pats begin. This is a hot spot for pooches. Invite your mates, bring some snacks and a six pack (bonus points if you can twist your mate’s arm and nab these for free) and watch the sunset across the city skyline. Gold.
