War on Waste? An inconvenient truth? Enjoy any of those movies about climate change/our current losing battle against pollution? Or are you like me and just find them depressing? Either way, I’d check out the beautiful, positive and inspiring six minute short ‘Tavaha’. Set amongst the glorious nordic islands, the ‘earthporn’ alone is definitely worth the watch.
’Tavaha’ is the Nordic expression for taking care of the ocean: ta vare på havet. It is also referred to as the ‘nordic aloha’. The short documentary is about Simen Knudsens perspective on plastic pollution and why he contributes. It follows Simen’s initiative ‘Nordic Ocean Watch’, which organises volunteers to paddle to and from islands collecting plastic. Spoiler alert! They end up collecting and removing 500kg’s of plastic... on their surfboards.
